The 50th Anniversary of The Original Dungeons & Dragons Coming in 2024

The 50th Anniversary of the Original Dungeons & Dragons is coming in 2024. Following up on my comments a month ago, with the OGL drama, it is apparent that WotC is going to drop the ball on a lot of things, they have not given up on nerfing old school gaming and the OGL 1.0a. They are just laying low for a while. I do not trust them.

But let's not worry about Wizbro's continued failures, executives can seldom be trusted, it is the nature of the beast.

Meanwhile let's continue to make our own plans for January 2024 and for the year of 2024. We can celebrate without Wizbro, because they have lost their way.

Coming in 2024 - The 50th Anniversary of The Original Dungeons & Dragons

2024 is the 50th Anniversary Year of the Original Dungeons and Dragons. January a year from now will kick off a year long celebration of OD&D.  I for one am not going to wait on WotC to properly acknowledge this historical milestone. They have this opportunity that there are going to miss and so there is not reason to rely on them to lead a proper celebration. Let's all join together writing and posting about this each month leading up to January 2024 and then follow through and post every month of 2024.

WotC can ignore the history and ignore the beginning of the RPG hobby and fail to do their duty as the IP holder, but we don't have to let their failures be the final word on this. Those who were there in the early days can write about it and the rest of us can share their posts and reminisces widely. If WotC fails to step us and celebrate OD&D, Arneson, Gygax and others, then let's publicly shame them for failing. Let's make the 50th Anniversary about OD&D and the RPG hobby and not about the ill-named One D&D attempted money grab. Be better than that! Say no to virtual D&D and those of you that have friends, sit down and game with them at a table. Me I will be gaming solo, but if you can game with someone(s), don't pass it up.
